Hygienic CB3 plastic pallet boxes support efficient seafood handling

Where fish and seafood are processed, chilled and prepared for export, load carriers must withstand particularly demanding conditions every day. The Peruvian company Elamar S.A. uses Craemer’s CB3 plastic pallet box for these processes. This robust transport solution supports hygienic operations, proves its value in cold stores and helps reduce breakages and replacement costs.

Elamar S.A. is a seafood company based in Paita, in Peru’s Piura region. The company processes fish and seafood and provides comprehensive services across the entire value chain: from receiving and sorting raw materials to industrial processing, packaging and cold storage, as well as managing export logistics. As a service provider, Elamar also handles processing, packaging, storage and export management for other companies.

For these processes, Elamar needs durable, hygienic load carriers that can withstand low temperatures. The containers must be easy to clean, meet the requirements of international food markets and perform reliably in day-to-day handling inside cold stores.

Designed for hygiene and durability in cold environments

Before choosing Craemer, the company also assessed other plastic alternatives available on the local market. According to Elamar, these proved less durable, showed greater wear in cold environments and presented higher hygiene risks.

The decisive factors in favour of Craemer were its recognised quality, the model’s structural strength and its guaranteed performance under the demanding conditions of low-temperature industrial environments. The collaboration went beyond product supply and also included technical and strategic advice. Craemer helped Elamar select the large load carrier best suited to its operating environment and recommended the CB3 plastic pallet box.

Gradual transition to CB3 plastic pallet boxes

Since July 2025, Elamar has been using a total of 206 Craemer CB3 plastic pallet boxes in blue, light blue and grey. The boxes are used for internal logistics and seafood storage. They are handled with pallet trucks and forklift trucks, and the loaded units are stacked in cold stores.

An important milestone for Elamar was the gradual transition from conventional pallet boxes to Craemer plastic pallet boxes without interrupting operations. According to the company, the changeover was orderly and efficient. The first results became apparent within the initial months of use, particularly through a significant reduction in breakages.

Durable and cost-effective

Based on its experience to date, Elamar reports greater operational safety, a considerable reduction in replacement costs and optimised loading and unloading times. The plastic pallet boxes prove particularly effective because of their resistance to consistently low temperatures. According to Elamar, the failure rate has so far been minimal, and no structural failures have been recorded under normal operating conditions.

The CB3 plastic pallet box therefore helps Elamar achieve a key objective: safe, hygienic and efficient workflows for processing and storing frozen seafood destined for demanding export markets.
