The vineyard owner appreciates the “reliable support for a smooth and gentle process” provided by the Craemer box. Due to their delicate skin, grapes require special care and gentle handling during harvest and processing. In Rheinhessen grapes are harvested for Pinot Gris, Blanc de Noir, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, red wine or rosé.
With a capacity of approx. 1000 litres, the industrial size CB3 High (1200 x 1000 millimetres) with three longitudinal runners and a height of 1140 millimetres has a significantly higher internal volume than most pallet boxes. “Thanks to its large volume, the CB3 High is ideal for mechanical harvesting. It is very easy to tip the box with our Ero grape harvester,” says the winemaker. A full bucket from the machine fills two Craemer pallet boxes to about 85–90 %. “This is ideal for transport and further processing.”
The boxes are considered ideal in many ways. They are very robust, even when tilted on the rotary unit. And there is one more thing that the man from Rheinhessen has experienced: “The CB3 High is perfect for mash fermentation – just open the lid, stamp the mash and close the lid again. „During this process, the dimensionally stable runners provide a good hold. The tall pallet box is even fully stackable to save space and is easy to handle. The winemaker appreciates the “ease of cleaning, especially on the inside, thanks to the smooth surface' and the 'very good value for money”. Moreover, he also uses the boxes for other purposes, such as storing seeds or bulk goods.
Depending on the application, other winemakers also rely on different Craemer containers such as the SB3 (closed or perforated), the HB3 hygienic box or the ET Box. All of them – including the CB3 High – are made of odour- and tasteless PE, and are resistant to mould and bacteria, highly impact-resistant and 100% recyclable.
