Tool Making

Tools for Metal Forming and Plastics Processing

Our Craemer Tool Making division stands for much more than high-precision tools for metal forming and plastics processing. We provide customised user packages that include precision tools, designed to boost production in the metalworking industry. Our clients include car manufacturers, manufacturers of white goods and fittings, and metal processing (supplier) companies of all kinds. For Craemer Plastics Processing, we manufacture high-quality injection moulds to produce logistics and waste disposal solutions such as pallets and containers.

Our advantage, your profit: As part of the family-owned Craemer Group, we have decades of experience in tool making and mould construction as an internal service provider for the Craemer business areas of Metal Forming (since 1912) and Plastics Processing (since 1958). We also have many years of experience as a service provider to the global metalworking (supplier) industry.

Craemer Tool

Our customers benefit from a company group with tradition and innovative strength, highly skilled specialists, state-of-the-art digitally connected machine tools and the latest software technology. They also benefit from our collective know-how and combined manufacturing expertise from a single source. The results are tools and injection moulds for the production of small to large parts for metal forming (e. g. car seat pans or rear panels for washing machines) as well as large plastic parts moulded in one piece with clamp forces of up to 5,500 tons – not only in focal areas of the industries.

Range of Services With Powerful Solutions

The Craemer Tool Making and Mould Construction division supplies transfer tools and progressive dies for forming various steel grades, high-strength sheet metal and ultra-high-strength materials, as well as tool solutions for highly complex metal components. The division is also a manufacturer of high-quality injection moulds with shot weights of up to 50 kilograms.

From highly complex tools to high-performance, top-class injection moulds for large-scale production to simpler tool designs for smaller, less demanding projects – Craemer is your guarantee for quality and productivity. We work closely with you to develop your tooling concept for efficient and reliable series production.

A Look Behind The Scenes

The Craemer Tool Making division is proven to be one of the best in the German-speaking area. This was demonstrated by our successful participation in the tough Excellence in Production for Toolmaking of 2024 competition, in which we were one of the four finalists in the category “Internal Tool Making with 50 or More Employees”. To coincide with this competition, we are releasing a behind-the-scenes video for the first time.

All-round Carefree Package: Craemer Circle of Tools

At Craemer Tool Making and Mould Construction, cost transparency is a top priority alongside maximum manufacturing precision and absolute adherence to schedules. For the benefit of our customers in the metal and plastics industries, both internal and external, we work based on the TCO model (Total Cost of Ownership). When calculating and pre-planning a tool or mould, the costs associated with all stages of its lifecycle (e. g. energy, maintenance and repair) as well as recycling or reuse are summarised alongside the acquisition costs. This ensures that all direct and indirect costs are considered economically before an investment decision is made.

Everything Under One Roof: Internal Cooperation

Craemer Circle of Tools

Craemer Tool Making relies on its own Craemer Circle of Tools (CCoT) – an internal system of cooperation based on the cycle principle. Different divisions work together in a continuous cycle along the process chain when orders for metal tools or plastic moulds are being processed. Product development, simulation, tool design and tool making, including a try-out phase, and tool maintenance are all carried out in-house under one single roof. These areas work together seamlessly and are deployed as subdivisions of Craemer CoT as required. For our customers, this means “everything from a single source”: a one-stop concept offering a customised, all-round, carefree package including tool making, mould construction and production.

A “Learning” Service Provider Thanks to Knowledge Transfer

Since all processes along the entire process chain take place under one roof at Craemer, and our specialists engage in continuous knowledge transfer, we act as a “learning” service provider, embracing a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The customer is at the heart of everything we do and part of the constant exchange of information. This allows Craemer to provide a variety of customised business models in the field of tool making and mould construction, including different solutions to technical issues from the initial stage. These are based on production figures, capacity utilisation and service life, idle time or (storage) location, and the complexity of a tool or mould. If necessary, we can also consider reconditioning and reusing components from metal tools or plastic moulds as a means of promoting sustainability through remanufacturing.

Low Total Cost of Ownership

Thanks to our holistic approach and differentiated consideration in the Craemer Circle of Tools, we always keep the Total Cost of Ownership as low as possible, no matter whether it is a large or small series. We talk to our customers about minimising the costs associated with tool use, production and components. To this end, we utilise state-of-the-art design and automation technology, digital networking processes, and the most recent data collection methods. Make the most of our unique Craemer Circle of Tools to ensure you receive the optimum project solution with optimised lifecycle costs for the purchase price of a tool.
