Hygienic plastic pallets for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry
The chemical and pharmaceutical industry is one of the main drivers of innovation and development, and thanks to the pharmaceutical supply chain, billions of people have access to life-saving medicines. This vertical places particularly high demands and strict regulations on product hygiene as well as the production environment. The finished products are highly sensitive, making compliance with hygiene regulations a must for all intralogistics processes. The use of the right solutions, such as plastic load carriers, can contribute significantly to supporting these standards.
Craemer manufactures hygienic pharmaceutical plastic pallets made from only pure PE and offers solutions for numerous areas in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry - from highly sensitive cleanrooms, to production lines or goods dispatch applications. Our high-quality plastic pallets conform to both HACCP and GMP standards and are easily washable after every trip, which ensures reliable protection from contamination or water ingress. Plastic load carriers can also help minimize load damages caused during shipping.
Completely closed pharmaceutical pallets for 100% hygiene
One example from the product portfolio is the cleanroom suitable TC pallet. This completely closed plastic pallet is setting new contaminant-free standards with its smooth deck surface. The patented welding seam geometry of the top and bottom deck ensures that the pallet remains completely closed even during rough handling and thus free from contamination.

FAQs About Pharmaceutical Pallets
What are medical pallets?
Medical plastic pallets are built specifically with pharmaceutical requirements in mind. First of all, plastic is resistant to water absorption and bacterial growth, which is perfect for safe transportation and storage of pharmaceutical products, such as medicines. Furthermore, medical plastic pallets, like our TC hygienic pallet and CR heavy-duty pallet, are a cost-effective investment, as they are durable and sturdy.
Why should I NOT use wood pallets in the pharmaceutical industry?
First of all, wooden pallets are difficult to sanitize and meet the industry hygiene requirements. Another concern about using wooden pallets to transport pharmaceuticals is the complaints and claims that wood pallets carry contaminants such as mold and bacteria, which can lead to extended damage.
Back in 2008, Tylenol users started reporting digestive problems, and in 2009 there was a product recall by Johnson & Johnson. As it turned out, the Tylenol contamination was due to the pallets that were used to transport the medicine. The pallets were made of wood treated with 2,4,6 Tribromophenol (2,4,6 TBP), that over time was turned into 2,4,6 TBA by microbes.
This incident proves that contaminants can enter the pharmaceutical supply chain in unanticipated ways, therefore, it’s best to be on the safe side and utilize hygienic plastic pallets for pharmaceutical product transportation.
