Craemer is one of 100 Top employers
Wolfgang Clement presents the company from Herzebrock, specialist for metal and plastics, with the seal of quality “Top Job” for its outstanding personnel management.
The Paul Craemer GmbH is one of the top 100 employers in the German small and medium-sized business. This is the result of the latest analysis of the nationwide, inter-branch benchmarking, now in its seventh year. Craemer convinced the jury of the renowned economic initiative with a bespoke and thus successful human resources management. The former Federal Minister of Economics, Wolfgang Clement, presented the company from Eastern Westphalia with the prized “Top Job”-award this Friday evening in a ceremonial act at the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord.
With the award, the mentor of the initiative recognises Craemer’s merits in the areas of “Leadership and Vision”, “Family Focus and Demography”, “Motivation and Dynamcis”, “Staff development and Perspective”, “Culture and Communication” as well as “Internal Entrepreneurship”.
The specialist for metal forming, tool making and plastics processing, with 460 employees in 2007 and a turnover of around 135 million Euro, was, among other things, decorated for the respect for and its dealings with the staff. The company, for instance, regularly asks the employees for their opinion: “The judgement and the attitude of our employees are important to us, as they reveal potentials for improvement - the free expressions of opinions from unexpected viewpoints give us new ideas”, explains Managing Director for Business Administration, Bernd Brockhagen, the commitment. It is also important to the Top-management that this tool provides them with a broad set of opinions from the entire staff, thus enabling them to draw conclusion on the work climate.
Another form of barometer of opinion is the system for handling complaints, to which all the staff has access to: Every employee has the possibility to bring his or her concern anonymously and in writing to the attention of the work council chair man, who then works on finding a solution. In addition, all the colleagues are continuously informed on their employer’s operative performance. Intranet, staff magazine, team meetings, interdiscipli-nary meetings and strategy workshops complete the flow of information.
In order to be awarded with the certificate, Craemer had to master a strict two-stage pro-cedure installed by the Institute for Leadership and Human Resources Management of the University of St. Gallen. The experts working with the Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Heike Bruch, review the HR management tools of the participating companies and carry out a detailed online questioning of the staff. “The results of our reviews again show that a strategically orientated human resources management has a clear impact on the com-pany’s performance”, comments Prof. Dr. Bruch her analysis. „In plain language: Good employers also have economic success. This trend will significantly intensify in the future. Companies, which systematically develop their attractiveness as employers, gain crucial capacity to compete.” The Managing Director for Production and Technology, Siegbert Geldner, is therefore all the more pleased with the achievement: Only companies in which the HR management plays an important role, take part in “Top Job”. To stand the test in such a strong environment and to be announced one of the 100 best employers in the medium-sized business, motivates our staff and makes us even more attractive to highly qualified employees.” A total of 212 companies took part in this year’s “Top Job”.
All of the 100 „Top Job“-employers are introduced in the book “TOP JOB – Die 100 besten Arbeitgeber im Mittelstand“ edited by Mrs Bruch and Mr Clement as well as on the website www.topjob.de. The initiative is organised by compamedia GmbH, Ueberlingen. Interested companies may apply online to TOP JOB 2010, the application deadline is April 2009.
